Training was held for employees of media entities.

On December 24, 2024, a training session was organized jointly by the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Permanent Working Group of the State Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and Illegal Drug Trafficking. The session aimed to implement item 4.4.31 of the "State Program on Combating Illegal Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances, and Their Precursors, and Drug Addiction for 2019–2024." The training was specifically designed for television journalists to enhance their understanding of the specific aspects of drug addiction, with the goal of facilitating the preparation of more comprehensive media coverage and authorial articles on drug addiction and its consequences.

The Deputy Head and Responsible Employee of the Permanent Working Group of the State Commission, employees of the Main Drug Control Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Republican Narcological Center of the Ministry of Health, the Baku City Narcological Dispensary, and representatives of more than 20 audiovisual media entities participated at the event.

The event was opened with a keynote speech by the Head of the Legal and International Cooperation Department of the Audiovisual Council, who highlighted that the organization and preparation of television and radio programs addressing the fight against drug addiction, within the framework of the Action Plan of the State Program, had been entrusted to the Audiovisual Council. The speaker provided attendees with information on the work carried out by the Council to date. The representative of the Audiovisual Council emphasized the critical importance of coordinated activities between the Audiovisual Council, the Permanent Working Group of the State Commission established to strengthen and coordinate measures in combating drug addiction, and media entities in achieving progress in this domain.

Then, the Deputy Head of the Working Group of the State Commission,  noted that media representatives have a great responsibility in combating the mentioned problem and the importance of holding such events in this regard. He provided the participants of the event with detailed information about the work done so far as a result of cooperation and coordinated activities with relevant state bodies.

The responsible employee of the Legal and International Cooperation Department of the Audiovisual Council made an extensive presentation on the topic. He spoke about the proportionality of materials prepared in audiovisual media with the requirements of the legislation, the mechanism of control and regulation of the process, possible punitive measures, as well as methods taken into account in international practice.

Then, the speakers provided information on the risk factors of drug use, the properties of psychoactive substances and their harmful effects on health, the stages of drug addiction formation, the importance of anti-drug propaganda, and strengthening cooperation with state bodies in order to prepare more complete information in the media about drug addiction and its consequences in order to increase the knowledge of young people about the problem of drug addiction.

At the end of the event, questions of interest to media representatives were answered.
