More than a ton of drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors were seized on October 4 at the Bunyad Sardarov Machine Building Plant in Binagadi district.

 Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the State Commission on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Ali Hasanov, members of the Commission and representatives of the media participated in the process.

  Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the State Commission on Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking Ali Hasanov said that the facts of illegal drug trafficking have increased significantly in recent years. In particular, the State Customs Committee has seized a considerable amount of narcotics at the border crossing points. Thus, during the first 8 months of the current year over 1 ton 800 kg of drugs and psychotropic substances were withdrawn, including 800 kg of heroin. The black market price of 1 ton 800 kg of drugs withdrawn from illegal turnover is 70 million AZN. In addition, Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov said attempts to smuggle drugs from abroad into the country increased. That is why the law enforcement agencies are working hard and all these issues are under the President's attention. A sufficient legal basis for the fight against drugs and drug addiction has been established in our country, and the national legal framework, as well as our legislation at the international level, has been fully formed to address this problem.

  At the same time, the implementation of 3 State Program on Drug Control was successfully implemented. In addition to that, the implementation of the "State Program on Illicit Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and their Precursors for 2019-2024" signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev No. 1334 of July 22, 2019 has been started. Also, more than 1 ton of 61 kilograms of various types of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances - 515 kilograms 979 grams of marijuana, 144 kg 965 grams of heroin, 328 kilograms 848 grams of hashish, 62 kg 726 grams of hashish, were sentenced to 579 court sentences today. 2 kg 79 grams of cocaine, 11 kg 755 grams - 71 773 psychotropic substances, including 4599 hemp plants were burned.
