According to the implementation of the "State Program for 2019-2024 on Illicit Trafficking of Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and their Precursors as well as Fight against Drug Addiction" approved by the Decree No. 1334 dated on July 22, 2019  of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, an event was held on December 3 at the Yasamal District Medical College on  "Conducting enlightenment activities in the field of fight against drug addiction" that was organized  by the Working Group of the State Commission on Combating Illicit Trafficking of Drugs and Psychotropic Substances jointly with the public union "Migration Development".

  Deputy Head of the Working Group of the State Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and Illicit Drug Trafficking and Director of Sector, Chairman of the Board of the Public Union on "Migration Development", Narcologist of the Narcological Center of the Ministry of Health, Director of the Medical College №2 ,the member of the District Executive Power and others noted that the fight against drug addiction was one of the priority directions of state policy and it was the President Ilham Aliyev's principal and uncompromising stance on all manifestations of this social tragedy. It was noted that the strategy set by the Azerbaijani government on this issue is being successfully implemented, and the steps to bring up the younger generation in the spirit of sound and high ideals are being taken.

  At the same time, detailed information was given on the detrimental effects of drugs on the human body, society and human health and caused social tragedies as well as wide information was given on the prevention of the spread of AIDS and several other dangerous diseases.

  The speeches provided detailed information on drug addiction and its complications, and highlighted the serious problems that the drug poses for the family and the community. Young people are also told that healthy lifestyle is the only way to spiritual purity and physical health.

 Interactive discussions were held over the topic with the participants and printed materials and information booklets on the fight against drug addiction were distributed to them.

  In addition, participants were shown a slide about the types of drugs and their complications.
