A meeting was held on the fight against drug addiction and illicit drug trafficking.

   Today, a meeting was held between the leadership of the Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency (ANADA) and the Working Group of the State Commission on Combating Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking. ANADA Director Shafag Huseynli, Head of the Working Group of the State Commission Fagan Shahverdiyev and other employees attended the meeting and discussed issues arising from sub-item 4.4.23-1 of the “State Program for 2019-2024 on Illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors and drug addiction" approved by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated July 22, 2019 No. 1334.

  The head of the Working Group of the State Commission Fagan Shahverdiyev said that the purpose of the state program is to strengthen the fight against drug trafficking, psychotropic substances and their precursors in the country, anti-drug propaganda, expansion of public awareness, prevention of drug trafficking and drug abuse.In addition, the program includes the application of modern technologies and new methods in the treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts, the improvement of legislation in this area, the development of international cooperation. Noting that 3 state programs have been successfully completed so far, Fagan Shahverdiyev said that the implementation of the 4th program for 2019-2024 is continuing successfully.

   ANADA Director Shafag Huseynli said that after being added to the list of executive bodies of the state program, ANADA focused on the fight against drug trafficking, psychotropic substances and their precursors and the agency's work plan has been prepared for 2021.  The work plan includes a series of trainings to educate athletes about the problems of drug and psychotropic substance use, the development of mobile or computer applications that demonstrate the negative effects of drugs, preparation of videos as well as using modern methodological tools to combat drug trafficking and etc. issues are reflected in the work plan.
