On July 2, a video conference was held with the participation of Chairman of the District Commission for Combating Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in the Sabail District Executive Power, chaired by Sabail District Executive Committee Deputy Chairman Eldar Agayev, Head of the National Information Sector of the State Commission for Combating Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Ragif Allahverdiyev ,Deputy Chief of the District Police Office Orkhan Akhundzadeh, employee of the Drug Enforcement Department of the Interior Ministry Nadir Mammadov, officials of the Sabail District Youth and Sports Department and directors and psychologists of educational institutions operating in the district.

  Opening the event, Deputy Head of the Executive Power Eldar Agayev said: “Ensuring socio-economic stability in the country, protecting people's health, welfare and moral values and combating drug addiction and drug trafficking was defined as the national task in the Decree No. 485 of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev dated August 26, 1996.  This strategic course has been successfully continued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, approving the fifth "State Program on Combating Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and their Precursors and Drug Addiction for 2019-2024" covering the period up to 2024 in order to ensure a resolute struggle in this area by the relevant order. Eldar Agayev, Deputy Head of the Executive Power, gave detailed information about the work carried out in the region to protect teenagers and young people from drug addiction and other harmful habits.

   Speaking at the event, Ragif Allahverdiyev, Head of the National Information Sector of the State Commission for Combating Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, spoke about drug addiction, one of the most frightening consequences of modern times, and noted that the fight against drug addiction is carrying actual character today. He informed about the measures taken against drugs as well as  the preventive work done in the country.

   At the end of the event, the participants made ideas and proposals to strengthen the fight against drugs in the region, the importance of anti-drug propaganda, awareness-raising activities, prevention of drug trafficking as well as the spread of drug addiction,and protection of the health of the younger generation.
