On August 27, 2021, a video conference on "The role of city and district commissions in the fight against drugs" was held under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the State Commission on Combating Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Ali Ahmadov with the participation of the chairmen of the commissions on combating drug addiction and drug trafficking operating in the city and district executive authorities of the republic.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the State Commission on Combating Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Ali Ahmadov noted that important steps had been taken to form an institutional system for control of drugs and psychotropic substances in the Republic of Azerbaijan. Positive results have been obtained with regard to the illicit trafficking of their precursors. At the same time, the participants were informed about the need to further increase the effectiveness of propaganda and awareness-raising activities carried out by the city and district commissions in this direction.
The event discussed the work done by city and district commissions to combat drug trafficking and psychotropic substances and their precursors, the results achieved and the tasks ahead. The chairmen of Sumgayit, Ganja, Lankaran, Shirvan, Yevlakh, Khachmaz city and district commissions made a report to the Chairman of the State Commission.
Following the meeting, relevant instructions were given by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the State Commission on Combating Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Ali Ahmadov in order to increase the control over the implementation of the State Program and the Commission's Work Plan for 2019-2024 strengthening cooperation with civil society institutions to ensure the sustainability of awareness-raising among adolescents and youth, to analyze and evaluate the results of the implemented measures and hold regular discussions in this direction, to cooperate with civil society institutions in order to increase the effectiveness of propaganda work and to ensure interaction with the Working Group of the State Commission.
