The next meeting was held on November 25,2021 at the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan Republic with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the State Commission on Combating Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Ali Ahmadov in order to discuss the measures taken by the media in the fight against drug trafficking and drug addiction.
The event discussed the results of the work carried out by the media in the fight against drug trafficking, psychotropic substances and their precursors and drug addiction in September-October of this year as well as the tasks ahead.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the State Commission on Combating Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Ali Ahmadov noted that given the fact that drug addiction and drug trafficking are the most serious and dangerous global problems facing modern society, the fight against drug addiction and drug trafficking in our country raised to the state level. Thus, as a result of comprehensive search operations carried out by law enforcement agencies on the illicit trafficking of drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors for 10 months of this year, a total of 7484 criminal cases were revealed, a total of 5 tons 880 kilograms of drugs and psychotropic substances have already been seized from illicit trafficking.
He brought to the attention of the participants the importance of systematic work using the mass media in the direction of the preventing drug trafficking and the spread of drug addiction through education and also stressed the role of modern information technology in the organization of anti-drug propaganda.
Chairman of the National Television and Radio Council Ismat Sattarov, MP, Editor-in-Chief of the Azerbaijan newspaper Bakhtiyar Sadigov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting Closed Joint-Stock Company Rovshan Mammadov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan State Information Agency Aslan Aslanov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency Ahmad Ismayilov , Director General of Public Television Balakishi Gasimov, Director General of Real Analysis Information Center Mirshahin Agayev, Director General of Khazar TV LLC Murad Dadashov, Head of Free Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting Company Azer Khalilov, Director of Space Independent Television and Radio Company Mushfig Hatamov, ARB TV director Radik Ismayilov and editor-in-chief of Iki Sahil newspaper Vugar Rahimzadeh supported the initiatives on awareness-raising activities against drug addiction and spoke about the need for more media coverage of the consequences of drug addiction in the family and society.
At the end of the meeting, relevant recommendations and decisions were made on the development of effective and efficient social videos by the relevant government agencies and extensive coverage by the media, preparation of author's articles and videos on the risk factors of the use of psychoactive substances, their harmful effects on human health and the essence of the problem as well as on the organization of special programs with the participation of experts from relevant government agencies.
