An event was held on "Say no to harmful habits, choose a healthy lifestyle!" on June 9 according to the Action Plan for 2023 of the Permanent Working Group of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) Central Office, "Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting" Closed Joint Stock Company and the State Commission for Combating Drug Addiction and Illegal Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs.

Young people representing Shamakhi, Ismayilli, Agsu and Gobustan regions took part in the event.

First, the participants visited the Shamakhi Astrophysics Observatory named after Nasreddin Tusi.

Then Tural Gasimli, chairman of YAP Shamakhi district organization, who opened the event held in the meeting hall of the observatory, said that the fight against drug addiction is one of the necessary conditions for the formation of a healthy society. As the scourge of drug addiction causes incurable complications in human life, young people should stay away from this scourge and choose a healthy lifestyle to become a worthy member of society.

Zakiya Musayeva, Deputy Head of the Department of Gender Policy and Youth Work of the YAP Central Office, said that the fight against drug addiction and its prevention is not only an important issue, but also one of the most important factors in the development of healthy youth. In order for young people to stay away from harmful habits, educational activities should be of a continuous nature.

At the event, Hikmet Shikarov, the first deputy of the head of the Shamakhi District Executive Power, the chairman of the Commission for Combating Drug Addiction and Illegal Trafficking of Narcotics, acting under the head of the Republic of Moldova, Ragif Allahverdiyev, the head of the National Information Sector of the Permanent Working Group of the State Commission for Combating Drug Addiction and Illegal Trafficking of Narcotics, the deputy chief for operational affairs of Shamakhi district Police Department, lieutenant colonel Said Seyidov and the employee of "Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting" Closed Joint Stock Company Ruslan Hasanov emphasized the importance of regular educational events. In the speeches, it was stated that educational work is the most powerful tool in the fight against drug addiction, and statistical information was presented about the combat measures implemented in this field. At the same time, it was brought to attention that special attention is given to issues of enlightenment in the "2019-2024 State Program on Illegal Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Their Precursors and Combating Drug Addiction" approved by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

At the end, the questions of the event participants were answered.
