On November 3, an event called "The role of higher education institutions in the fight against drug addiction" was held at Baku Slavic University (BSU).
Speaking at the event, Shahin Ismayilov, the responsible employee of the Permanent Working Group of the State Commission for Combating Drug Addiction and Illegal Trafficking, gave detailed information about the number of officially registered drug users in the country, drug addiction and its psychological causes, its consequences, as well as the Commission"s 802 hotline.
The representative of the Youth Fund, Rufat Gazizadeh, spoke about the projects implemented in the fight against drugs, and talked about the work currently being done in this direction.
Kamran Mayilov, the head of the investigation group of the General Anti-Narcotics Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, introduced the participants of the event to the activities of the Internal Affairs bodies in the fight against narcotics.
Sadir Mammadov, head of the scientific laboratory of Azerbaijan studies, gave an excursion on the history of drugs and advised young people to stay away from drugs and other harmful habits.
Ramin Allahverdiyev, a psychologist of the Republican Center for Narcotics, made a presentation called "Psychology of Addiction". In the presentation, the psychological causes of addiction, types of addiction, methods of struggle were mentioned, and a discussion was organized around the questions of interest to the students.
In the end, a manual called methodical recommendations on "To help identify people who abuse narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances" that was prepared by the permanent working group of the State Commission as well as the necessary propaganda materials were presented to the participants.
