On December 14, 2023, "Training for television journalists on the specific aspects of drug addiction in order to prepare more complete information on drug addiction and its consequences in the media, and author"s articles" was held by the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Permanent Working Group of the State Commission for Combating Drug Addiction and Illegal Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs of the Republic of Azerbaijan in order to ensure the implementation of clause 4.4.31 of the "2019-2024 State Program on the fight against illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors and the fight against drug addiction".

Fazil Novruzov, the chief of staff of the Audiovisual Council, who opened the event with his opening speech, said that the media sector has an important responsibility in the fight against the biggest scourge of humanity, and in this regard and also he spoke about the importance of holding such events. He stated that the Audiovisual Council and the Working Group of the State Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and Illegal Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs, which were established for the purpose of strengthening and coordinating the measures taken in this direction,as well as the related activities of the media should be specially mentioned.

Ragif Allahverdiyev, the sector head of the Working Group of the State Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and Illegal Trafficking of Narcotics, spoke about the Working Group"s activities and close contacts with the media, the sensitive issues of covering these topics in the media, and emphasized the importance and regular organization of such educational events.

Later, Najaf Aydinoglu, the head of the investigation group of the General Anti-Narcotics Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ramin Allahverdiyev, a psychologist of the Republican Narcotics Center of the Ministry of Health, and Shahin Ismayilov, a representative of the Working Group, spoke with training topics. They talked about drug addiction, its consequences, the tragedies it brings, the protection of teenagers and young people from harmful habits, and the work carried out in this direction in the country. According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the media representatives were given detailed information about the main goals of the "2019-2024 State Program on Illegal Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Their Precursors and the Fight Against Drug Addiction" and also the importance of anti-narcotic propaganda and educational measures to strengthen the fight against "white death" in our country was also discussed.

The training continued with discussions on topics and questions of interest to media representatives.
